The Board of Airline Representatives in Germany (BARIG) has strengthened its air cargo community with the addition of CMA CGM AIR CARGO as a new member. Founded in 2021, the airline is part of the CMA CGM Group and operates air freight services connecting Europe with key markets across Asia and America. Based at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, CMA CGM AIR CARGO currently operates three Boeing 777F and one Airbus A330-200F from Paris, while two additional Boeing 777F are based in the United States. Its network also links Germany and the Benelux region with destinations in Asia and America.

BARIG said the growth of the air cargo sector remains an important priority, particularly as Germany’s aviation industry faces rising operating costs, high fees and administrative challenges. German airports handled around 4.86 million metric tonnes of air cargo in 2025, marking a 1.6% increase over the previous year.

BARIG Chairman and Executive Director Michael Hoppe said the association is working with other industry bodies to improve the operating conditions for air cargo in Germany. The addition of CMA CGM AIR CARGO is expected to bring another internationally connected airline into discussions on the sector’s future.
