SriLankan Airlines has won the Visitors’ Choice Award for Leading International Airline at the South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) 2026, marking another recognition for the carrier in the regional travel and tourism industry. The airline was the only international carrier to receive an award in this category at the event. The awards ceremony took place earlier this month at Hotel Barcelo Nasandhura in Malé, Maldives, as part of SATA’s 10th anniversary celebrations. The event brought together government ministers, diplomats, senior officials and representatives from leading airlines and tourism organisations.

Commenting on the achievement, Dimuthu Tennakoon, Head of Commercial at SriLankan Airlines, said the recognition reflected the airline’s focus on passenger service and its efforts to strengthen its presence across the region. He added that the award would encourage the airline to continue improving the travel experience and building stronger relationships with the markets it serves.

SriLankan Airlines operates nearly 130 flights each week to 15 destinations across South Asia, including India, Pakistan, the Maldives, Nepal and Bangladesh. Its network supports travel to Colombo for business and leisure, while also providing connections to destinations beyond the region.

Through its direct services and codeshare partnerships, the airline connects passengers to 130 destinations across 63 countries. Its network covers Europe, Australia, the Middle East, the Indian Subcontinent, Southeast Asia and the Far East.

The SATA 2026 recognition adds to SriLankan Airlines’ presence in the regional aviation market as it continues to serve travellers and maintain connections with tourism and travel industry partners across South Asia.
