Private Safaris Marks 50 Years of African Travel Expertise, Strengthens Focus on India

Kenya-based destination management company Private Safaris has marked its 50th anniversary, celebrating five decades of creating tailor-made travel experiences across Africa. Founded in Nairobi in 1976, the company has grown from an operator serving the Swiss market into an established DMC with a presence across East and Southern Africa.
Over the years, Private Safaris has expanded its operations across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda and Southern Africa, developing expertise in leisure and MICE travel. Its portfolio covers a wide range of segments, including family holidays, luxury safaris, special-interest journeys, honeymoons and large-scale MICE movements.
The company said its five-decade journey has been shaped by changing traveller expectations, while its focus on personalised service, destination knowledge and on-ground expertise has remained central to its operations. According to Cleophas Mongare, CEO, Private Safaris, East Africa, the anniversary marked both a celebration of the company’s journey and an opportunity to look ahead.
Focus on the Indian Market
As part of its next phase of growth, Private Safaris is placing greater emphasis on the Indian travel market. The company sees growing opportunities as Indian travellers increasingly seek experiential holidays that combine wildlife, nature, adventure, luxury and culture.
Private Safaris has been represented in India by Global Destinations for the past seven years. The partnership has helped the DMC strengthen its relationships with Indian travel advisors and tour operators and build awareness of its African destinations.
The company believes that India’s growing interest in wildlife holidays, luxury safaris, family travel, honeymoons and MICE can create further opportunities for African tourism. It plans to deepen its engagement with the Indian travel trade and develop experiences that cater to the evolving interests of Indian travellers.
With its 50-year milestone, Private Safaris is now looking to build on its destination expertise and long-standing industry relationships while continuing to respond to changing travel trends across Africa.
