Vipul Misra Takes Charge as Acting CEO of SriLankan Airlines

SriLankan Airlines has appointed Vipul Misra as its Acting Chief Executive Officer, effective September 9, bringing more than two decades of experience in aircraft engineering and aviation leadership to the national carrier.

He has built his career across several major Indian airlines, including Air India, Vistara, IndiGo, SpiceJet, Kingfisher Airlines and Air Deccan. His experience spans legacy carriers, full-service airlines and low-cost operators, giving him exposure to different aviation business models and operational environments. With a background in aircraft engineering, Misra has worked across both technical and operational areas of the airline industry. His experience is expected to support SriLankan Airlines as it works to improve operational performance and strengthen its long-term sustainability.

As Acting CEO, He will provide leadership during the carrier’s next phase of development, with a focus on technical and operational priorities. His appointment comes as SriLankan Airlines continues efforts to enhance its overall performance and build a stronger foundation for sustainable growth. His experience across India’s diverse airline sector is expected to bring a broad industry perspective to his interim leadership role at SriLankan Airlines.
