Tourism Malaysia Intensifies India Outreach, Expands Focus Beyond Kuala Lumpur

Tourism Malaysia has intensified its engagement with the Indian travel market through a sales mission held in Chennai, Mumbai and New Delhi from August 12–20. The initiative brought together 47 Malaysian tourism stakeholders, including tour operators, hoteliers and airline partners, for B2B meetings and trade networking.
India remains a key source market for Malaysia, supported by more than 190 direct flights and over 37,000 weekly seats. Malaysia welcomed more than 1.5 million Indian visitors in 2025, making India one of its top five international markets. With Visit Malaysia 2026 extended through 2027, Tourism Malaysia plans to promote destinations such as Sarawak, Langkawi, Penang, Johor and Sabah, encouraging Indian travellers to explore experiences beyond Kuala Lumpur and Genting Highlands.
