India’s tourism sector is set for a major digital transformation as Google India and the Ministry of Tourism have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote the country’s tourist destinations through advanced technology. The partnership will use artificial intelligence (AI), data-driven insights and Google’s digital platforms to showcase India’s rich culture, heritage and travel experiences to both domestic and international travellers. The collaboration will also focus on knowledge sharing, skill development and the use of emerging technologies to improve visitor engagement. Union Tourism and Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said digital innovation can create immersive travel experiences and strengthen India’s global tourism presence. Officials added that the non-commercial agreement aims to enhance destination visibility and support the long-term growth of India’s tourism sector through digital innovation and capacity building.
